Introducing Takashima Records - Our debut 7" vinyl reissue features a stunning full color picture sleeve release complete with detailed linear notes on the life and legacy of Oliver Sain. The 7" vinyl record includes two absolute staple tracks from the catalogue of this St. Louis, MO Soul/Jazz legend Oliver Sain. The picture sleeve is gold foil stamped on the back of each sleeve and numbered limited to 500 traditional black vinyl releases. Additionally we have made 100 copies available sporting black labels and gold vinyl that look as slick as they sound! Daptone Records couldn't have put it better when they said "One for the ball and one for the wall" and we think both casual & serious record collectors will agree.

The A-side features the often sampled track from Oliver Sain's heavily sought after 1972 album titled "Main Man". The featured song titled "On the Hill" was most notably sampled on the 1997 song "Young G's" a track that featured Puff Daddy, The Notorious BIG , Jay-Z and Kelly Price (although we prefer the sample use on "Day One - D.I.T.C.).On the B side we have "St. Louis Breakdown" This song can also be found on Oliver's 1972 debut album "Main Man". The hard hitting Funk/Soul jam features drums thicker than molasses, a silky smooth saxophone solo from the man himself, & and a seriously bubbling bass line that when put together form the classic and essential St. Louis, MO anthem. Takashima Records was founded in St. Louis, MO (2019) as both a Vinyl & Cocktail Lounge in addition to an independent record label. The record label holds long term goals and aspirations in terms of genre and original composition releases however, we are currently putting our time and energy into unearthing rare songs & artists from our hometown of St. Louis, MO. Takashima Records digs deep into the music that shaped our city. Be on the look out for future limited pressing vinyl releases coming down the pipe as we can't wait to share the next chapter in the Takashima Records catalogue.
